We are seeking a motivated, mechanically minded individual to support our Machine Shop Supervisor in the operation of CNC and manual machining equipment. This entry-level role involves monitoring milling and lathe operations, loading/unloading parts, performing basic measurements, and maintaining a clean and organized work area.
No prior machining experience is required. We are looking for someone with strong mechanical aptitude, curiosity, and a willingness to learn precision manufacturing skills in a structured aerospace/defense environment.
Assist the Machine Shop Supervisor with daily machine shop activities.
Monitor CNC and manual machines during operation to ensure smooth production.
Load raw material and remove finished parts under supervision.
Perform basic deburring, part cleaning, and surface prep.
Stop or pause machines and notify supervisor if issues occur.
Handle and inspect parts in accordance with AS9100 quality procedures (training provided).
Use basic measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to check part features.
Complete shop travelers, routing paperwork, and inspection checkpoints accurately.
Follow documented work instructions, part drawings, and revision-controlled documents.
Maintain part traceability and properly label work-in-progress.
Support continuous improvement and adhere to standardized work practices.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Follow all machine shop safety rules and PPE requirements.
Assist with material handling, equipment cleanliness, and consumable restocking.
This role includes structured, on-the-job training in:
CNC milling & turning fundamentals
Blueprint & drawing interpretation
Basic GD&T concepts (training appropriate for level)
Aerospace inspection & metrology
AS9100 quality system practices
Machine setup assistance and tool changes (as skills improve)

Machine shop environment with safety and PPE requirements
